Lapis Lazuli is a deep blue coloured stone , often exhibiting a suble mottled pattern. It is is mixture of the minerals Lazurite, Calcite and Pyrite. It was formed as the result of contact metamorphism. Many Lapis Lazuli stones exhibit a speckled gold or silver glint , due to the presence of shiny iron pyrites.
