An oval Moss Agate gemstone in a silver claw setting . The gemstone has a myriad of delicate fibres running through it and looks different according to the light as shown in the two images.The ring shank is slightly adjustable by a size either way , but we have adusted it to a size P which suits this design . Moss Agate is a beautiful gemstone with dendritic moss like patterns in green, orange or red migrating throughout the stone . The gemstone seems to have real moss strands within it but in fact the appearance is due to its mineral composition.

Moss Agate is a silicon dioxide with thread like dendritic inclusions caused by the presence of oxides of manganese or iron. Moss Agate is formed from pre existing weathered volcanic rocks. 

This gemstone is quite enigmatic. Hold it up to the light and see a myriad of threads within it . Place it on a white surface and the appearance chages again . When worn it has a beautiful subtle appearance against the skin 

Moss Agate is thought to encourage tranquility and emotional balance and was often exchanged as a token between friends. It is one of the birthstones for Virgo.
