A large Turquoise gemstone hand set in silver. The pendant has a substantial weight and the Turquoise is enclosed in a web like design of oxidised silver  which gives a slightly darkened apperance to the metal. This piece has TWO silver bales on the reverse so that it can be worn either way up . Turquoise is a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminium, a combination which creates the beautiful bright blue/green hues characteristic of the stone. It is formed when copper rich solutions percolate into pre-existing rocks. The water content evaporates, the copper combines with aluminim and phosphorous to form Turquoise. Often a patchwork of the original host rock remains within the Turquoise, providing a uniqueness to each stone as seen in this piece.

Called “The Breath of Life” by the indigenous American cultures, reminding humans of their Spitituality. Said to attract good luck and friendships, instill calm and alleviate depressions. It is the birthstone for Sagittarius and Aquarius.
