This Labradorite gemstone changes its appearance depending on the direction of the light source . Its internal mineralogical composition either exhibits stripes in different shades of blue, which irridesce in the light or a more subtle grey colour. This is a lovely characteristic which is displayed when worn and as movement occurs. The face of the gemstone is flat.

Labradorite occurs in Igneous rocks such as Basalt and Gabbro and also in metamorphic rocks such as Gneiss. A plagioclase feldspar mineral displaying an irridescent optical effect called labradorescence.
