An elongated marquise shaped Black Obsidian gemstone exhibiting a cats eye effect or chatoyancy when moved along its long axis . The Obsidian is set in silver. Makes an impressive statement when worn on the index finger. 

Obsidian is formed as a result of the extremely rapid cooling of lavas extruded during volcanic eruptions.  The rapid cooling does not allow any crystal formation . Most Obsidian is black in colour.

Obsidian was used by many ancient peoples to make arrow heads and knives , as it can be fashioned to create extremely sharp edges.
