These dendrites create the moss like patterns within the stone .  Moss Agate is formed when silica rich ground waters percolate into pre existing weathered volcanic rocks.  This is a slow and complex geological process. Agate artefacts have been found in Neolithic deposits dating back 10.000 BC .
